The Disney Channel was launched. It’s first program, airing at 7 a.m. was titled “Good Morning Mickey.” Other programs on the first day included, “Mousercise,” “Welcome to Pooh Corner,” “You and Me Kid” and a game show called “Contraption.” Plus the feature films, "So Dear to My Heart" and "Tron." The channel originally aired for 16 hours a day, going to 18 hours in April 1985 and in December 1986 going to 24 hours a day.
